If you really want, you can actually run the Windows Battlefield in a virtual box in Mac OS X as well.
Anyway. As workarounds for incompatibilities go, virtualization is about the most cumbersome approach possible. If it works, great, but I do wonder what is so weird about BF1942 that it requires this…

mac=fail... cant run .exe files. price of bf1942 for mac is $30 while the pc is around $8 near me.
Ahemm, well for me it was $0, I already owned 3 BF keys for Windows when I switched. I payed for all 3 so who is to charge me again, just for switching OS? I have to admit though, that BF runs better in Windows, but thats allright, I have that too, on my iMac (As a sidenote, my phone is Android)
exe is really no problem anymore. Crossover, Wine and multiple other programs sort that.
I like em both, use both MAC and PC at work. For gaming, i'd go for a PC. But for designing purposes i'd def choose a mac. The only problem is that i think MACs are overpriced as hell, you can get exactly the same hardware in a PC for 40% less.. but it wont run any snowy tigers and leopards..
Is no more
