Last Month the Japanese try to retrive this mod a little bit more. They played in the at 2pm CET. At the moment the gametracker, com Server Monitorring is off. Hope soon they turn it on. The ranking seems to work.
I have totally fixed this problem of crashes when using Windows 7 by using Virtual Box and running XP through that. It has removed the need for any kind of duel boot scenario. It also has awesome benefits.
Check out this vid of it in action!
Some notes:
Camtasia is less clever than fraps and I struggled to record the 'what you hear' system sounds.. so there are none but take my word for it that all sound works fine.
Also note that camtasia (and probably others) struggle to maintain a decent recording framerate of the game windows but you can see I have fraps running on both clients to show the true framerates which are excellent, especially when you consider that 2 bf clients are running AND camtasia is recording the entire screen at 1920x1080! Without recording it is flawlessly smooth for me.
This is great for recording footage in fraps (this did not work well with 2 clients running just in Win7) and also for testing net code! All this in addition to the overall stability of running BF. ED42 etc in XP!
(Watch full screen in 1080p HD.. well if you can.)
My friend is struggling too, I just got him back into it, he bought the whole collection and he's on a basic Vista, don't know the processor and he uses some ATI card.
He's reinstalled and he can't even type in the Add Server IP box to join me, :[ Shall look this tutorial thru, thanks much..!!
EDIT: 0MG !! Virtual Box looks S0 clever. Is it free..? My PC is real average and so is my friend's..just a gig of RAM and 2 gigs of RAM here..
Could it work normal..without altering anything..man if I could fullscreen BF1942/mods fullscreened with ease in "XP mode" that would be righteous !!
YET AN0THER EDIT: Yeh..we both are just on minimum RAM, man. :[
Try it! You don't need multicore to use it. I just thought it was the multicore people who had the issues.
An impotant note about the 3d acceleration. You have to install 'guest additions' in safe mode when you are booting xp. Or the driver files don't get copied fully.
...that note will make more sense when you install it
Well I have a legit xp disc.. (probably the only legit windows i ever owned).. but you can just grab a copy somewhere.. then mount it in daemon tools on your host OS.. Virtual box can then read the disc (you just select the daemon drive as active from within VB) then install..
